HARD TO FIND A FLATMATE

During the first half of the twentieth century, however, what would eventually become a recurrent theme in descriptions of contemporary Swedish society, namely a stereotypical image of Sweden as a land of virtually unrestrained sexual freedom, was almost entirely absent from most foreigners' published accounts of life there.
Today finding a new flatmate is often a challenge, but for one Swedish teenager only men as 'good looking as hell' will do.
The blonde teenager who advertised for a "good looking as hell" flatmate has been hit by a barrage of online abuse - as well as offers from hunky men.
Alicia Hansson had also demanded that potential cohabitors were 'charming' and knew how to put a toilet seat down, in her advert on the flat-hunting Facebook group page in Gothenburg last week Her brutally honest approach has attracted abuse online by those who have accused her of objectifying men. But it has also seen the teen flooded with offers from attractive men who believe they fit the profile.
But her unusual approach divided opinion online.
While some accused her of objectifying men, Alicia, from Sweden, has been flooded with offers from hunks who claim they fit the profile.
Within days, she had over 1,000 responses, and some men even sent romantic poems and half naked
pictures.
Speaking to the Gothenburg Post, she said her post on the flat-hunting group was a "cry for help searching for that non-existent, ideal man".
Alicia wrote the post while preparing to return to Sweden after working as an au pair in Spain. In Sweden flat sharing is a total rarity.
The advert said: "Are you good looking as hell, charming and know how to put down the toilet seat after you?
"Searching high and low for a prospective room mate/partner to move in with some time after the summer. Love is absolutely no obligation!"
Some users saw the funny side, with Siya Mhlwatika commenting that Alicia was a "hilarious lady".
But others accused the pretty blonde of being white trash, claiming she objectified men.
Jonas Bengtsson, a member of the same apartment rental group on Facebook, asked: "is this some kind of social experiment?"
Alicia told the Local Sweden she had wanted to "spice up" the criteria.
She said: "In my world, love is what creates a home. I have found very many funny and charming people, but it's a little hard to have a coffee with them when I am still in Spain."
She added that she would be happy to do the chores while her charming flatmate was free to relax.
'I wish them all the best to find what they're looking for- I'm sure they will.
'For the rest, I pray for the ones who are constantly trying to make other people feel less worse, and hope that they see how much bigger of a problem their actions are for society.
'I thought it was quite clear I wasn't trying to outrage anyone.
'My ad was simply just about finding someone to settle down with, being willing to make him feel as a king while he's seducing my eyesight. I don’t really see the sexist statements described.
'And for people searching for love, be no-one but yourself and don't let other people choose what you want in life. Go get what's out there and never sell yourself short- no matter if it's the man of your life or somewhere to live.'
The single teenager, who is now hoping to meet up with some of the men that contacted her, shrugged off her critics adding that people needed to have a little fun every now and then.
'We'll both see what happens,' she added. Who knows, maybe the ad wasn't so "stupid" after all and... I must say he's one good-looker.'
