DINNER IN THE DARK

I want to share a wonderful experience I recently had in a distant land in the East. One Friday evening I was invited to an event organized by recruitment firm Manpower, in order to raise funds for the blind are in a center for people with disabilities. Because it was Friday night, my first impulse was not to go, thinking it would be something boring and it would be better to start my week-end in a way more relaxing. But being alone and not knowing how could I kill my time in a country whose culture was not accustomed, I decided to accept the invitation and confirmed my online participation is motivated by the fact that the invitation stated that it is a free dinner. Also, I thought the event as an opportunity to meet some interesting people with whom I could converse.
Arriving at the site, I noticed that gathered about 40 people from different business areas, and we even had
some talks with people forte delight. Then began the event to which we were invited.
For starters, we were shown a film about the center for the disabled - activities that take place there and how they are helping the blind to live a life as close to normal. It was a video of 15 minutes, entertaining and inspirational. I saw people of different ages and professions devote some of their time to help these unfortunate fate you without expecting anything in return. Satisfaction and fulfillment I read their faces simply because they failed to help them.
After the movie, we were all gathered in a room, where we were informed about the next event. Its theme was "Dinner in the Dark" and this is the event that I want to share with you because it deserves. What was this dinner? All 40 participants after dinner in a room plunged into total darkness. The next two hours were planned, organized, conducted and executed by three young blind - a girl (head) and two boys (helpers) - which formed the volunteer team.
First, head taught us a few rules that we must follow in order to eat normally. They are, in fact, some of the standards for the blind, they make life easier:
1. When you are seated at the table, things in front of you. Are placed as follows:
- Plate is in the middle;
- 6:00 to plate napkin is folded;
- 3:00 to plate spoon is;
- 9:00 to plate is a fork;
- 12:00 to plate is a knife;
- 2:00 to a glass plate is empty;
2. Two large carafe will circulate around the table. The right form containing water, and the curved shape contains orange juice.
3. When, based on your choice, One of two pitchers reach you, You should pour themselves into the glass. To do this, you must first enter the thumb of his left hand into the glass, so that, when filling and fluid touch your finger to stop.
That said, the girl asked if everyone understood. We all answered "yes", but really I was confused, trying to remember what he told us and we confirm that we remember each other.
The following minutes were instructive and amusing at the same time. All guests have been divided into smaller groups and directed to the dark dining room. Each of us was led to his seat by a blind person, that left only after ensuring that we sat. We all had the same feeling strange, because actually we seers ought to guide and help the blind.
In total darkness, I could see nothing not, I ate more delicious without seeing them. We were served drinks, two appetizers, main course and desserts. Amazingly it seemed that the three blind were able to serve with vegetarian vegetarians, although they were seated at tables at random (I forgot to tell you that when I confirmed their participation online, one of the questions I had to answer was "vegetarian" or "non vegetarian" Obviously we checked the "vegetarian", because that is). Team Service was impeccable, never had to wait between courses. How finish the preparation, we were given the following, without delay.
After an hour and a half in the dark dining, head asked us if everyone finished eating, and after receiving the confirmation, the lights on in the room.

We all left the dining room in tears. We realized how lucky I was to be endowed with eyes to see this beautiful world in which we were born. We realized how hard life is for a man who is impossible to see. We realized how uncomfortable we felt us for 90 minutes, we were deprived of view, and how to feel her whole life living like this. We realized that we do not appreciate the simple things that do not run all my life have, without being grateful for what we were given. Be happy and love what you have been given in this life. You can try to get what you do not, but do not be sad if you fail. Think about that anyway you already have more than others. Consider the experience I lived and I can philosophy will change your life.
